The capable midwife has a crisis-proof job, a loving husband and two well-developed children - and now she's going on a family vacation together. To cheer up her best friend Bea, who has lost her job, Merrit spontaneously invites her to Italy. Shortly before departure, however, Merrit receives a worrying call: her father Christian is in the hospital with a suspected heart attack. For better or worse, Merrit's husband Immo sets off alone to Lake Garda with Bea and their two children Max and Jule, while she drives to the Eifel, where her parents run a youth hostel in an old castle.
